About Audrey's Wish
Manly resident Audrey Myrden, pictured with her family, passed away peacefully at 5:05pm on the 22nd of November 2011. Audrey suffered from Glioblastoma Multiforme – a terminal brain tumour and during her illness fought to try and ensure her young boys would be cared for after her passing.
Audrey’s greatest wish was to ensure her boys are well provided for so that her husband Barry can continue to work and have resources to assist him with their care. A previous survivor of breast cancer, Audrey was ineligible for life insurance. Audrey also provided support to many others suffering from brain cancer by sharing her story throughout her difficult journey.
Many, many people and organisations were moved by Audrey's story and gave time and resources generously to help. At one event a Norwegian singer by the name of Silje Helsing Hansen performed ‘Audrey’s Song’ which was inspired by and written for Audrey Myrden.
The song moved everyone who was there that night and it was decided that we had to professionally record the song and use it to continue to help raise much needed funds. Thanks to the generous donation of studio time by Michael Hardwick for Underfoot Records P/L the song was recorded a month later, and we encourage you to download a copy of this beautiful song and make whatever donation – big or small – you can afford.
